    History. The regiment was formed as the Royal Highland Fusiliers (Princess Margaret's Own Glasgow and Ayrshire Regiment) on 20 January by the amalgamation of the Royal Scots Fusiliers with the Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment). The Royal Highland Fusiliers, abbreviated as 'The RHF', were part of the Scottish DivisionBranch: British Army. It wasn't until that it was renamed the Royal Scots Fusiliers. The regiment fought in many major conflicts from the Second Jacobite Rebellion at Culloden to the American War of Independence and the Boer wars. In it was merged with the Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment) to form the Royal Highland Fusiliers.
